Coping with Covid-19

By now, we should be all aware of the pandemic that has inhabited every country in the world! It is indeed saddening and alarming, the rate at which the Coronavirus (Covid-19) is spreading. However, we must all do our parts to ensure that we can flatten the curve to slow and eventually cease the spread of the virus.

Here are 5 ways we can do that:

1. Washing our hands

This is widely deemed as one of the most effective ways to prevent being infected with the virus. According to the World Health Organization, we should “wash our hands with soap and water and dry them thoroughly or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser if we don’t have immediate access to soap and water”. For an idea of how long we should wash our hands, it is recommended that we sing the “Happy Birthday” song two times while washing.

2. Social Distancing

This is the act of reducing contact with other persons in an effort to slow down the spread of the disease. Since Covid-19 is highly contagious, if you stay away from places with high human traffic or social events, you are reducing the probability of catching the virus.

Since social distancing requires us to spend a lot of time indoors, we have to find creative ways to keep our minds occupied and at ease. Quite frankly, thinking about a global pandemic is mentally exhausting. So, you can try that DIY/fixer-upper project that you’ve been putting off for so long. You can also discover a new hobby in painting, drawing or even doing an exercise challenge to stay fit… you know with all the extra quarantine snacks we’ve been eating!

3. Stay Informed

Listening to every report that comes out about the virus may not do you any good. Seek out reports from world-recognized and well-respected bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the local Ministry of Health so that you can stay abreast of new developments about the virus at home and internationally.

4. Consider others

Flight prices are reduced and staying home is boring. However, we must consider the implications of our actions if we do engage in non-essential travel or leaving our homes. It is quite possible to contract the virus and not show any symptoms and in turn, involuntarily pass it on to other higher-risk groups such as the older family members we may live with.

5. Do the Five

The World Health Organization has put out five quick and simple steps that you can do to help stop the Coronavirus! Let’s all do our part. Do the Five!

Waiting to see you on RoadTrip TT’s next adventure, soon!
